Sidewalk Closes After Piece of Building Falls on Boylston Street

Part of sidewalk closed after part of building falls to the ground in Boston.

Part of a Boylston Street sidewalk in Boston has been shut down after brick mortar fell off of a building and onto the ground.

The Boston Inspectional Services Department responded to brick mortar falling off of a building located at 396 Boylston St. Monday morning.

Inspectional Services Commissioner William Christopher immediately closed the sidewalk and ordered the property owner to hire a licensed engineer to submit a full structural evaluation of the building and execute safety measures.

No one was injured in the incident.
