One man was injured in the shooting and is recovering in an area hospital. His name has not been released.
"All we know is that there was a shooting behind me here and it's under active investigation," Salem Police Chief Lucas Miller said.
Lori, a neighbor who did not want her last name used, said the shooting was unusual for the quiet neighborhood.
"The only thing that happens in this neighborhood is coyotes running around," she said. "it's very quiet, peaceful."
She said she heard four or five gunshots.
"I jumped up and was like, 'That couldn't be gunshots,'" she said.
Her Ring home security camera captured a car driving away from the home moments after those shots were fired.
Police had placed several bullet markers on the ground in the driveway of the home as they continued their investigation.
