Following a search of the area, one person was taken into custody.

Lynnfield police said 22-year-old Ghustin Boyce, of Everett, is charged with home invasion, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and armed robbery with a mask. He was arraigned Monday in Peabody District Court.

Prosecutors allege that Boyce and two others broke into the home by forcing their way through a sliding door. They handcuffed two of the victims inside - described as a husband and wife - hitting the husband in the face and head with a handgun. The three attackers allegedly yelled "where's the stuff," at which point the victim pointed them to a backpack, which prosecutors said contained $10,000-worth of poker chips and $2,000-$3,000 in cash.

Meanwhile the couple's daughter, who had been upstairs when the commotion started, was able to return upstairs unnoticed and called 911 for help. As police arrived the suspects tried to take off. Boyce was captured, while two others escaped, prosecutors say.

Boyce was held without bail pending a further hearing.

The investigation is ongoing, but police said they do not believe this was a random event.
