Police were investigating a situation on High Street in Winchester, Massachusetts, on Monday morning.
Winchester police said officers responded to a home around 6:50 a.m. for an unknown medical emergency and found a male with a single gunshot wound.

Winchester Fire Department personnel treated the person and took him to Winchester Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
At this point in the investigation, police say foul play is not suspected, and there is no risk to the public.

State and local police, in coordination with the Middlesex District Attorney's Office, are continue to investigate this incident. Other details were not provided, including the person's name.
Little information was known for most of the day Monday. Winchester police initially said only that they were at a "crime scene" and that state police crime services had been requested.
School officials had sent an email to parents at the Ambrose Elementary School around 7:45 a.m. saying there was a "police investigation" happening across the street from the school "that may impact student drop off." The school said they had no additional information about the incident but that police assured them that it was safe to have school.
Photos from the scene showed yellow crime scene tape surrounding the driveway of a local home, with markers on the ground indicating that gunshots were fired.
The investigation is ongoing.
