Police initially said the two men knew each other, however Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a statement Monday night that her office is actively investigating whether or not these two men were known to each other.
The man who died has since been identified as Mussie Nirayo, 22, of Cambridge. The other man involved has been identified as Tyler Olivier, 26, of Woburn, the district attorney confirmed.

Olivier was taken to a local hospital following the shooting and has since been arrested. He is expected to be arraigned Tuesday in Woburn District Court on charges of possession of a firearm and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, the DA said. It was not immediately clear if he had obtained an attorney who could speak on his behalf.
Sources told the NBC10 Boston Investigators earlier Monday that Olivier was the man who survived and that he was accused in 2021 of slashing and stabbing a man and a pregnant woman. That crime also took place on Washington Street.
“The lady who lives over there came running out one time a few years ago screaming ‘he’s going to kill me, he’s going to kill me’, " said neighbor William Govostes.

Multiple neighbors say they never heard anything suspicious coming from the home overnight.
“Very nice people,” said neighbor Hugh Gaffney. “My son died, they all came to the funeral, with food and everything.”
Ashly Van Edema’s home sits right behind the crime scene and she says she’d like more information about what took place as investigators were searching sheds and backyards.
“If there isn’t anything to worry about it would be great to know what they’re looking for in the backyard,” said Van Edema.
The district attorney's office said the motive for this incident remains under investigation at this time.
