Police have asked for the public's help as they continue searching for the man who is suspected of stealing a car that had a baby in the back seat in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood on Friday.
Boston police said officers were called to Geneva Ave. and Leroy St. just before 3 p.m. Friday for a report of a kidnapping. While responding, officers were told the victim's truck had been stolen with their infant child still inside.

The baby's parents told police that they had parked at 430 Geneva Ave. and exited the truck to tend to their 2-year-old. At that point, the suspect jumped into their vehicle and fled towards Bowdoin Street with their infant still inside.

According to police, moments later, the suspect returned to 430 Geneva Ave. and placed the baby, who was still in the car seat, on the sidewalk, before again fleeing toward Bowdoin Street.
Police say the child was reunited with the parents and evaluated by Boston EMS.
About an hour later, the stolen truck was found at 156 Columbia Road, police said, but the suspect was nowhere to be found.

The incident was caught on surveillance footage, which provides the closest look at the suspect as he sits on a bike just before the carjacking.
The suspect is described as a heavy-set man with long hair and a beard. He was last seen wearing a grey shirt with grey pants. Police revealed additional photos of the man on Saturday.
The Boston Police Department is actively investigating this incident, meanwhile locals say they want more of a police presence in the neighborhood.
“It’s not fair because like I said there’s no police intervention and we got a station three blocks from here. There’s no police intervention," one man said. "Unless something happens, that’s when they come around.”
