Roman Catholic Diocese of Manchester Releases List of Priests Accused of Abuse

The diocese posted the list of 73 names on its website Wednesday as far back as 1950

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Manchester has released a list of priests accused of sexually abusing children that stretches back almost 70 years.

The diocese posted the list of 73 names on its website Wednesday as far back as 1950, including two names that were never made public before. The priests are deceased or have either left the ministry or are prohibited from public ministry as a priest.

The diocese says the release of the list is part of a new section on the website, where survivors and their families can get resources on abuse and how to report it.

Bishop Peter Libasci, in a letter accompanying the list, said the release of the names and the other resources was an effort to hold the diocese accountable for the "evils of the past."
