Six people were injured, two critically, when an SUV crashed on Interstate 95 in Foxboro, Massachusetts, early Sunday, state police said.

According to Massachusetts State Police, troopers and other first responders were called to the northbound side of the highway around 3:20 a.m. for a single-vehicle crash involving a Ford Expedition.

Six people inside the SUV suffered injuries and were taken to local hospitals. At least two of them had life-threatening injuries, police said. There was no update on their condition late Sunday night.

I-95 north was closed between exits 13 and 17, police said, with traffic rerouted onto Route 140. The roadway reopened by 6:30 a.m.

No further information was available. The crash and its cause remain under investigation.
