State police said a Mini Cooper driven by a 29-year-old woman from Worcester struck the trailer being pulled by the truck. The woman, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said a preliminary investigation suggested the woman driving the car had been speeding prior to the crash.

No other vehicles were believed to have been involved in the incident, which forced lane closures on the highway until around 7 a.m.

No further information was immediately available.
