Motorcyclist killed in Hingham crash with SUV; road closed for hours

A motorcyclist was killed in a crash involving an SUV in Hingham, Massachusetts, that closed a road for several hours on Labor Day.

Hingham police initially announced Beal Street was closed due to a crash with serious injury. They later said they were investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and SUV.

Officers first responded to reports of a crash around 4:50 p.m. Monday on Beal Street, near the intersection of North and West streets.

The injured motorcyclist was rushed to South Shore Hospital but died from their injuries, police said. The SUV driver and passenger were not injured in the crash.

Beal Street remained closed at North/West Street and at Fottler Road until 8 p.m.

The victim's name has not been released at this time, and police have not said what they believe caused the crash.

The incident remains under investigation by Hingham police, state police, and the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office.
