Man Shot, Seriously Hurt in Northboro

A person was shot in the leg in a residential part of Northboro, Massachusetts, and left with serious injuries.

A man suffered serious injuries when he was shot in the leg in Northboro, Massachusetts, on Monday afternoon, police said.

The shooting was reported about 1:26 p.m. on Maynard Street, according to the local police department.

Police said the shooting does not appear to be random. The victim was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester with serious injuries.

Police said a passerby who is an emergency professional applied a tourniquet to the injured man's leg. A trail of blood was visible on the road at the crime scene.

Maynard Street at Beechwood Circle remains closed due to the ongoing investigation.

"It's a very quiet neighborhood," resident Chelsea Duval said. "Not a lot happens, so even to see a couple police cars around is a little scary."

No further information was immediately available.
