Woman found dead at South Boston's Carson Beach

Massachusetts State Police detectives are investigating what led to her death

A body was discovered at Carson Beach in South Boston early Monday morning, bringing out a large police presence.

A person's body was found Monday morning at Carson Beach in South Boston, leading to a large police investigation.

A number of police investigators were at the scene on the beach. They were called there shortly before 7 a.m., state police said.

The person who died was a woman, according to police, who identified her as Megan Anderson, 29. Her last known permanent address was said to be in Las Vegas, and she may have been homeless, according to state troopers.

Several Massachusetts State Police cruisers were seen at the beach, as well as Boston Emergency Medical Services. State troopers were putting yellow tape up around the area.

An official determination of cause and manner of death is still pending, but state troopers said so far there has been no indication of trauma.

An investigation remains open.
