NBC10 Boston cameras were rolling as a person wearing an employee uniform and badge was walked out of the Star Market in handcuffs. Boston police identified the man as 47-year-old Trevor Charlton, of Hyde Park.

Shoppers tell NBC10 Boston that the violence unfolded near the deli counter and that police on site characterized it as a dispute between employees.

The victim was rushed to a Boston hospital. Police said the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Several police cruisers were seen parked outside the grocery store Tuesday afternoon. For shoppers, this was overall a disturbing experience.

“I walked in the store, there was a few BPD officers at the deli area, there was two with a person of interest who had his hands behind his back. They were sitting talking with him. There was another officer behind the deli counter talking to another Star Market employee,” Chris Rosado said.

Many regulars were concerned about this happening in such a public place in the middle of the day.

“It’s usually just a very quiet place, lots of children, lots of families, people bustling around,” one woman said.

“It’s kind of sad that you have to worry about where you’re going and which grocery store you shop at,” Rosado said.

A spokesperson for the grocery store released a statement saying in part, "At Shaw’s and Star Market, we work diligently to provide a safe shopping and workplace environment."

Police are continuing to investigate what happened.

Charlton will be arraigned Wednesday in Dorchester District Court on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. It was not immediately clear if Charlton had obtained an attorney.
