The trooper, who was inside his vehicle at the time, was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained in the crash, state police said. There was no immediate word on the extent of those injuries.

The Subaru Forester driver -- identified as 45-year-old Kimberly Anderson, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- was arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol, according to state police.

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation said two lanes were closed at mile marker 126 due to the crash. They later said the center lane had opened, as state police said the scene had cleared.

Further details have not been released, including the name of the woman who was taken into custody.
