A group of eight Massachusetts Institute of Technology students is preparing for a 3,500-mile bike ride across America.
The 75-day ride is part of the MIT Spokes program, aimed at spreading science to children of all ages in rural areas.
The program organizers also hope to break stereotypes, showing that engineers and scientists can be athletic, too.
The team sets off from Washington, D.C. at the end of May and then moves through Virginia before also visiting Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Utah, and Nevada. The trip ends in San Francisco, California.
