A man accused of killing his girlfriend on Valentine's Day in Worcester, Massachusetts, has been held without bail.
Sadrac Metellus, 29, faces charges of murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, the Worcester County District Attorney's office confirmed Thursday. He was arrested after the stabbing on Douglas Street Wednesday.

"It's really sad," said neighbor Kristen Starkoski, who lives in the apartment above where the crime took place. "I think she had just gotten to this country to come and work."
Starkoski says the man and woman were dating and had just moved in at the beginning of the year, and she had heard them arguing from time to time.

"I had heard shouting and stuff," said Starkoski. "I didn't know what they were saying, they speak Creole, I had heard about them fighting from the landlord."
"The defendant did make statements that were heard by other individuals in which he indicated he had, in fact, stabbed the victim," said Assistant District Attorney Karen Bell.
The victim has not been publicly identified at this time.

"It's terrible," said a neighbor who lives next door. "It's supposed to be a day to celebrate a couple like a sweetheart and everything like that."
Investigators said they believe this was a situation of domestic violence.
