Flames broke out at the home on Melville Avenue on Monday shortly before 4p.m. and continued for hours.

Fire officials say the structure of the old home made it difficult to fight the flames. Firefighters from multiple surrounding departments joined Norwood Fire to help put out the blaze.
Six adults and six children live inside the home. Neighbors say they saw some of the residents escape through the back of the home. It's unclear how many people were home at the time. No word on what caused the fire.
