State police said around 9:15 a.m. that a search team has recovered the body of one of the victims. The search for the second victim is ongoing.

Two brothers went missing off the coast of Martha's Vineyard after jumping off the Jaws Bridge in Edgartown overnight, officials said, prompting a search by water and air for much of the day Monday.

The body of one of the brothers was found Monday morning, but the other brother remained missing into the afternoon, and both Massachusetts State Police and the U.S. Coast Guard suspended their searches for him. State police planned to return to the area Tuesday to scan for the man.

A search team recovered the body of one of the brothers, state police said around 9:15 a.m. The search for the second victim was still ongoing Monday afternoon, and focused on the ocean side of the bridge, state police said.

The brother whose body was found was 26, police said, and the still-missing brother is 21. Their names weren't released, but investigators believe they came to the island to work at a restaurant and were staying in Oak Bluffs.

Massachusetts State Police brought in boats and aircraft to help search after being called in around midnight by Edgartown police. Local police and firefighters searched for the two men until around 3:30 a.m.

The State Police Marine Unit brought in divers to resume the search Monday morning, troopers said.

The Coast Guard searched the area for hours, before suspending its involvement by the afternoon, the agency said.

Several other first responding agencies are helping with the search, including the Edgartown Fire Department and the Dukes County Sheriff's Office.
