One of the occupants -- a 33-year-old man identified as Renato Chaves -- had a stab wound to his chest and was taken to Cape Cod Hospital in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 8:36 p.m., authorities said.
A female passenger in the same vehicle, Juscelene Guedes, 29, of Centerville, was arrested and charged with murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, a knife, the district attorney's office said. She was arraigned Thursday morning in Barnstable District Court.

Prosecutors said a witness saw the victim run out of a building and up to his vehicle, clutching his chest. He told the witness that his ex-wife had stabbed him and asked for a ride to the hospital.
The same witness alleges that Guedes also ran out and tried to get in the car. She reportedly made comments to the effect of "please don't call the police because I'll go to jail."
The defense said there was a history of domestic abuse between the victim and the defendant, adding that the violence broke out as a result of the victim "making demands" of Guedes when he arrived at her apartment that morning. He said she cooperated with police after the incident and suggested that she was defending herself from the victim.
Guedes has an open case with immigration and is originally from Brazil. She has been appearing in Boston immigration court, the defense noted.
She was held without bail and a probable cause hearing was scheduled for Aug. 5.
No further details were released.
