Woman Hospitalized After Being Hit by Car in Saugus

The woman, who has yet to be identified, was taken to Mass. General Hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car on Route 1 in Saugus

A woman is in the hospital with seriously injuries after she was hit by a car on Route 1 north in Saugus, Massachusetts Tuesday night.

The driver, a 45 year old man from Lynnfield, was not hurt and remained at the scene of the crash, which happened around 10:20 p.m. His 2018 Alfa Romeo SUV was towed.

The woman, who has yet to be identified, was being treated by Saugus firefighters and EMS on scene. She was later taken to Massachusetts General Hospital.

The two right lanes were closed for about two hours while the scene was cleared and the investigation began.

Massachusetts State Police, Saugus Police, Saugus Fire, EMS, and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation responded to the scene. State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction, as well as Crime Scene Services were called to investigate.

The investigation into the crash and attempts to identify the woman are ongoing. No further information was immediately available.
