The incident started around 1:30 a.m. when state police troopers attempted to stop a car being driven by Ifinjer on Route 16 south in Dover near the Rochester line, the attorney general's office said. Ifinjer allegedly refused to stop her car and sped off, prompting a police pursuit at speeds up to 100 mph.

Eventually, troopers deployed a spike strip and were able to stop the vehicle. During the subsequent encounter after the car was stopped, the trooper shot Ifinjer. No one else was in the vehicle.

The attorney general's office said Ifinjer faces multiple charges in connection with the police chase.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and the attorney general's office said the trooper's name won't be released until a formal interview takes place sometime next week. They said additional information will be provided at that time.
