The female victim was pronounced dead on scene Thursday after officers responded around 6:20 p.m. to the Brookside Avenue home for possible gunshots and found two people inside suffering from gunshot wounds.

Police haven't publicly identified either person, or said what the relationship between the two of them may have been. It's also not clear at this time if the man and woman lived at the apartment where they were found.

Crime scene tape remained up and there were police cruisers still at the scene Friday morning, as detectives continued to investigate what led up to this deadly double shooting.

Police say no arrests have been made in connection to this crime and they are not actively searching for any suspects.

Neighbors tell NBC10 Boston that they are in shock after what happened.

“It’s terrifying, I mean Worcester lately has a lot of stuff that’s happened in the area, so yeah it’s terrifying,” said neighbor Jose Rivera. "All I saw was a bunch of commotion, ambulances and police cars, they were actually here all night, until this morning as you can see.”

“I was up all night just looking, making sure everything was okay and yeah, too close to home,” Rivera added.

“It’s pretty much safe and I’m actually shocked something like this happened, I wouldn’t expect that at all,” another neighbor Julie Mintah said. "The hallway is taped, and I saw there was like some stuff on the floor and policemen right there."
