Woman Attacks Dog Owner, Steals Maltipoo Puppy in Caught-on-Camera Attack

Police said the victim sustained "substantial injuries"

Police in California are looking for a woman who was caught on video assaulting a dog owner in broad daylight before stealing her 1-month-old Maltipoo puppy.

The attack happened Monday at 12:30 p.m. on the 6600 hundred block of Eastern Avenue, according to the Bell Gardens Police Department.

Surveillance video from a local business captured the attack. Footage shows the suspect swinging at the dog owner and the two wrestling back and forth before they fall to the ground.

A bystander can be seen calmly walking around them while the two women continue to fight.

The suspect than allegedly pepper-sprayed the dog owner and fled with the puppy. She was captured on a different surveillance video running northbound on Eastern Avenue toward Loveland Street.

The victim sustained "substantial injuries" from the attack and received medical treatment, according to police.

Police described the dognapper as a woman with light skin complexion, between 18 and 25 years old, with a medium build and auburn hair.
