The 2022 MLB trade deadline has come and gone.
Teams across the league made quick decisions, determining whether to go all-in for a postseason push or retool for the future. A number of impact players – including Juan Soto, Noah Syndergaard, Whit Merrifield and more – were dealt prior to Tuesday’s deadline.

To recap it all, here’s a list of every trade leading up to the 2022 deadline in reverse chronological order:
August 2: Reds get Austin Romine from Cardinals
Sports
News, videos, and rumors on the Boston Celtics, New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, and Boston Bruins, powered by NBC Sports Boston.
After selling off a number of players, Cincinnati added catcher Austin Romine from the Cardinals just before the deadline. St. Louis designated Romine for assignment after activating Yadier Molina from the IL, so this deal is Romine for cash considerations.
August 2: Raisel Iglesias traded from Angels to Braves
Atlanta strengthened its pitching staff as it gears up to defend the World Series. Iglesias was an elite closer for the Angels in 2021, though he has regressed to a 4.04 ERA this season after signing a four-year contract last winter. Pitchers Tucker Davidson and Jesse Chavez head to the Angels in the deal.
August 2: Royals send Whit Merrifield to Blue Jays
Whit Merrifield is going to Toronto… we think. The former Royal is unvaccinated, so he is technically ineligible to play home games at the moment. The belief is that the two-time All-Star will get the shot and join a Blue Jays team that is ready to contend.
August 2: Mets acquire Michael Givens from Cubs
The Mets got some bullpen help in the form of Michael Givens. The former Cubs right-hander has a 2.66 ERA in 40 relief appearances this season.
August 2: Yankees trade Jordan Montgomery to Cardinals for Harrison Bader
The Yankees traded longtime starter Jordan Montgomery to the Cardinals in exchange for outfielder Harrison Bader. Montgomery has a 3.69 ERA in 21 starts this year, while Bader is fresh off winning a Gold Glove in 2021 while hitting .256 in 2022.
August 2: Phillies get Noah Syndergaard from Angels
Thor is headed back to the NL East after a brief stop in Los Angeles. Syndergaard will join the Phillies for the playoff push, with outfielder Mickey Moniak and prospect Jadiel Sanchez going to the Angels. Syndergaard has a 3.83 ERA in 15 starts this season.
August 2: Blue Jays acquire Mitchell White from Dodgers
Toronto added some pitching depth in Mitchell White, sending minor-league pitchers Nick Grasso and Moises Brito to Los Angeles. White has made 15 appearances (10 starts) this season, compiling a 3.70 ERA and 47 strikeouts in 56 innings. Toronto also acquired minor-leaguer Alex De Jesus in the deal.
August 2: Tigers send Michael Fulmer to Twins
The Twins continue to bulk up for a potential playoff run. In its latest move, Minnesota added pitcher Michael Fulmer from Detroit. The 29-year-old right-hander has a 3.20 ERA in 41 relief appearances this season. Pitching prospect Sawyer Gipson-Long heads to Detroit in the deal.
August 2: Orioles acquire Brett Phillips from Rays
Brett Phillips was designated for assignment by the Rays, and the Orioles jumped on the opportunity to add the fan-favorite. The deal was for cash considerations.
August 2: Mariners add Curt Casali, Matt Boyd from Giants, Jake Lamb from Dodgers
In separate deals, the Mariners acquired three players from the NL West – catcher Curt Casali and pitcher Matt Boyd from the Giants, plus utilityman Jake Lamb from the Dodgers. Seattle sent minor-league reliever Michael Stryffeler and a player to be named later to San Francisco, with cash considerations going to Los Angeles.
August 2: Guardians, Twins make minor swap
In a rare trade between division rivals, Cleveland and Minnesota made a deal before the deadline. The Guardians acquired pitcher Ian Hamilton, who has one appearance this season, and the Twins added veteran catcher Sandy Leon, who has 15 at-bats this season.
August 2: Trevor Rosenthal shipped from Giants to Brewers
The Brewers continued to add bullpen help after trading Josh Hader, this time picking up Trevor Rosenthal from the Giants. San Francisco just signed Rosenthal last month as he nears the end of his recovery from hip surgery. Now he’ll have a chance to compete for a division title in Milwaukee.
August 2: Padres stay active, acquire Brandon Drury from Reds
After adding Josh Hader, Juan Soto and Josh Bell, the Padres didn’t put down the phone. Instead, San Diego acquired former Reds utilityman Brandon Drury, who is having a career year (.274, 20 home runs, 59 RBIs). In return, Cincinnati acquired shortstop prospect Victor Acosta.
August 2: Twins land Tyler Mahle in trade with Reds
The Minnesota Twins upgraded their rotation by trading for Tyler Mahle in a deal with the Cincinnati Reds. The 27-year-old righthander is 5-7 with a 4.40 ERA this season. The Reds received three prospects in the trade: second baseman Spencer Steer, third baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand and pitcher Steve Hajjar.
August 2: Phillies get David Robertson from Cubs, Brandon Marsh from Angels
The Philadelphia Phillies acquired veteran reliever David Robertson from the Chicago Cubs for minor league pitcher Ben Brown. The 37-year-old Robertson has posted a 2.23 ERA and recorded 14 saves for the Cubs. In a separate trade, the Phillies landed outfielder Brandon Marsh from the Los Angeles Angels in exchange for minor league catcher Logan O'Hoppe. The 24-year-old Marsh is hitting .226 with eight home runs and 37 RBIs this season.
August 2: Giants send Darin Ruf to Mets
The San Francisco Giants traded Darin Ruf to the New York Mets on Tuesday for J.D. Davis, Thomas Szapucki and two prospects, a league source told NBC Sports Bay Area's Alex Pavlovic. Ruf has 11 homers and 38 RBIs on the season to go along with a .216 batting average.
August 2: Padres send Eric Hosmer to Red Sox after he rejected deal to Nationals
The San Diego Padres initially traded Eric Hosmer to the Washington Nationals as part of the Juan Soto trade, but the veteran first baseman rejected the deal. So, he was then reportedly dealt to the Boston Red Sox, with the Padres paying a significant amount of the $44 million that Hosmer is owed, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. Boston also acquired prospects Max Ferguson and Corey Rosier while sending former first-round pick Jay Groome to San Diego.
August 2: Yankees trade Joey Gallo to Dodgers
The New York Yankees reportedly unloaded struggling outfielder Joey Gallo, trading him to the Los Angeles Dodgers for pitcher Clayton Beeter. Gallo, a two-time All-Star, is hitting just .159 with 12 home runs and 24 RBIs in 233 at-bats this season. He has struck out 106 times. Beeter, who has gone 0-3 with a 5.75 ERA for Double-A Tulsa this season, is the Dodgers’ No. 15 prospect, per MLB Pipeline.
August 2: Blue Jays get two relievers from Marlins
Toronto bolstered its bullpen with two right-handed relievers from Miami – Anthony Bass and Zach Pop. In return, the Blue Jays sent shortstop prospect Jordan Groshans to the Marlins.
August 2: Nationals’ Juan Soto, Josh Bell traded to Padres
It actually happened – Juan Soto is heading to the Padres, and he’s bringing Josh Bell with him. The Nationals got a massive haul for their former young star – LHP Mackenzie Gore, SS C.J. Abrams, OF Robert Hassell III, OF James Wood, RHP Jarlin Susana and 1B Luke Voit.
August 2: Twins add Jorge Lopez from Orioles
The Minnesota Twins will be adding pitcher Jorge Lopez to their roster, The Baltimore Sun reported on Tuesday morning. In exchange, the Twins are sending RHP Yennier Cano and prospects to the Baltimore Orioles. Lopez will compete for saves with rookie Jhoan Duran in Minnesota’s bullpen.
August 1: Braves add Jake Odorizzi from Astros, Robbie Grossman from Tigers
The defending World Series champion Braves made two trades late Monday night. First, Atlanta sent struggling reliever Will Smith to Houston for Jake Odorizzi, who has started just 12 games in 2022 due to injuries but is now healthy. In a separate deal with Detroit, Atlanta acquired outfielder Robbie Grossman for prospect Kris Anglin.
August 1: Brewers acquire Matt Bush from Rangers
After trading closer Josh Hader earlier in the day, the Brewers added veteran reliever Matt Bush in a trade with the Rangers. Milwaukee sent utilityman Mark Mathias and pitching prospect Antoine Kelly to Texas.
August 1: Pirates send Jose Quintana to Cardinals
Jose Quintana is staying in the NL Central after the Pirates dealt the left-handed starting pitcher to the Cardinals. In 20 starts this season, Quintana is 3-5 with a 3.50 ERA and 89 strikeouts. St. Louis also acquired reliever Chris Stratton in the deal while sending John Oviedo and Malcom Nunez to Pittsburgh.
August 1: Red Sox trade Jake Diekman to White Sox for Reese McGuire
The Red Sox quickly replaced Christian Vazquez with former White Sox catcher Reese McGuire. Chicago acquired Jake Diekman, a lefty reliever with a 4.23 ERA in 44 appearances for Boston in 2022.
August 1: Royals trade Emmanuel Rivera to Diamondbacks for Luke Weaver
In a minor move between rebuilding teams, the Royals sent third baseman Emmanuel Rivera to the Diamondbacks for pitcher Luke Weaver. Rivera, 26, has 92 games of big-league experience over the past two years. Weaver, meanwhile, has a 7.71 ERA in 16.1 IP this season.
August 1: Red Sox add former Reds outfielder Tommy Pham
Shortly after dealing Christian Vazquez, the Red Sox acquired Tommy Pham for a player to be named later. The 34-year-old outfielder took the baseball world over when he slapped Joc Pederson over a fantasy football disagreement earlier this year. Pham is hitting .238 with 11 home runs in 2022.
August 1: Astros acquire Christian Vazquez from Red Sox
Houston continues to load up as it chases another championship, adding former Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez just hours before the two teams were set to play. Vazquez made his big-league debut with Boston in 2014 but is arguably having his best season in 2022, hitting .282 with 42 RBIs in 84 games. In return, the Red Sox got two 23-year-old prospects: Enmanuel Valdez and Wilyer Abreu.
August 1: Astros trade for Orioles' Trey Mancini, send Jose Siri to Rays
The Astros, Orioles and Rays executed the rare three-team MLB trade, with Trey Mancini as the centerpiece going from Baltimore to Houston. The Astros also acquired pitching prospect Jayden Murray from the Rays. Tampa Bay added Houston outfielder Jose Siri, while the Orioles received two pitching prospects: Seth Johnson from the Rays and Chayce McDermott from the Astros.
August 1: Yankees get Frankie Montas, Lou Trivino from A’s
New York is going all-in for the World Series this season, acquiring starter Frankie Montas and reliever Lou Trivino from Oakland. Montas, 29, has a 3.18 ERA this season in 19 starts, while Trivino, 30, has a 6.47 ERA in 39 relief appearances. The Yankees will send four prospects to the A’s: LHP Ken Waldichuk (No. 5 in Yankees’ system), RHP Luis Medina (No. 10), LHP JP Sears (No. 20) and INF Cooper Bowman (No. 21).
August 1: Padres acquire Josh Hader from Brewers
The Padres swapped closers in a trade package that brought star reliever Josh Hader to San Diego, according to ESPN. In exchange for the four-time All-Star, who leads the majors with 29 saves, the Brewers received closer Taylor Rodgers, who has 28 saves this season, and pitcher Robert Gasser, outfielder Esteury Ruiz and pitcher Dinelson Lamet.
August 1: Braves DFA Robinson Cano after acquiring Ehire Adrianza from Nationals
The Braves acquired infielder Ehire Adrianza from the Nationals in exchange for outfielder Trey Harris. Atlanta then designated veteran infielder Robinson Cano for assignment. The 39-year-old Cano, who was acquired in a trade with the Padres last month, hit .154 in 27 plate appearances with the Braves.
August 1: Yankees acquire Scott Effross from Cubs
The Yankees landed some bullpen help after acquiring right-handed reliever Scott Effross from the Cubs. Chicago received right-handed pitcher Hayden Wesneski, who is New York's No. 7 prospect.
July 30: Rays land David Peralta from Diamondbacks
Tampa Bay acquired outfielder David Peralta from Arizona on Saturday. The Diamondbacks received catcher Christian Cerda, both teams confirmed. Peralta is currently batting 0.248 this season while Cerda, 19, is a youth prospect worth keeping an eye on.
July 30: Dodgers acquire Chris Martin from Cubs
The Dodgers added a new reliever to the bullpen in Chris Martin from the Cubs, both teams confirmed Saturday. Chicago got back utilityman Zach McKinstry from Los Angeles.
July 29: Mariners land Luis Castillo from Reds
The Mariners are pushing for it all this year, and rightfully so. After landing Carlos Santana, Seattle reportedly is now acquiring right-hander Luis Castillo from the Reds, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. Cincinnati takes back four prospects: Noelvi Marte, Edwin Arroyo, Andrew Moore and Levi Stoudt.
July 28: Mets acquire Tyler Naquin, Phillip Diehl from Reds
The Mets continue to be active ahead of the deadline, as they landed outfielder Tyler Naquin, who is a left-handed hitter, and left-handed reliever Phillip Diehl from the Reds. Cincy received a pair of minor league prospects, right-hander Jose Acuna and second baseman Hector Rodriguez, in the deal.
July 27: Yankees acquire Andrew Benintendi from Royals
Just minutes after getting swept by the rival Mets, the Yankees traded for Royals All-Star outfielder Andrew Benintendi. New York sent three pitching prospects to Kansas City in the deal for Benintendi, who won a World Series ring with the Red Sox in 2018.
July 25: Red Sox acquire Abraham Almonte from Brewers
Boston made a minor trade of cash considerations for Almonte, a 33-year-old, switch-hitting outfielder who has played for six teams since 2013. The move was mostly made out of necessity, as the Red Sox are dealing with a handful of injuries on the big-league roster.
July 23: Mets acquire Michael Perez from Pirates
One day later, New York and Pittsburgh struck another deal. Perez will provide the Mets with catcher depth, and the Pirates received some cash considerations in return.
July 22: Mets acquire Daniel Vogelbach from Pirates
Vogelbach has bounced around the league since debuting with the Mariners in 2016, but the 29-year-old first baseman is a solid lefty bat. The Mets sent pitcher Colin Holderman to the Pirates in return.
June 27: Mariners acquire Carlos Santana from Royals
Seattle president Jerry Dipoto acted quickly, and this trade has paid dividends. Santana has more home runs with the Mariners than he did with the Royals this season in half as many games. Kansas City acquired Wyatt Mills and William Fleming in the deal.
