Jay Pharoah on Impersonating Obama for Obama at Event

Harry: “Hey, have you ever had to do an impression of someone that is real and they’ve seen you do the impression?” Jay: “Yes, Obama. I was at an event and it was a secret Obama event. It was a charity dinner at a house. They said, ‘Jay show up and put this on, Obama is going to be there.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh snap, I don’t want to ruin this because he is the most powerful man in the world and if I do mess up, he’s going to be like, ‘Off with his head,’ and I don’t want that to happen. Like if you mess up, the fear I had of doing Obama to Obama, the seething fear, there was bowel activity almost. It was the scariest thing ever. I do it and I’m looking at him while I’m doing it thinking, ‘I hope I’m not messing up,’ and he read me and I didn’t have to say nothing, he was like, ‘Nah, you’re doing pretty good.’” For more interviews, check out “Harry.”
