Frigid Start to Holiday Weekend

NBCUniversal, Inc.

Today (Saturday): Bright sun with a few more clouds late. Highs in the 20s.
Tonight: Partly cloudy. Not as cold. Lows in the 20s to around 30.
Sunday: Clouds and limited sun, chance AM flurry. Highs in the 40s.

The long holiday weekend is off to a frigid start, with the coldest air of the season settling in across New England Saturday morning.

Lows dropped as low as 30 below zero in Northern Maine, with single digits above zero common around Boston.

For the rest of the weekend though, temperatures will rebound.

By Saturday afternoon we’ll enjoy 20s to near 30 degrees with sunshine and a light wind.

Clouds will increase overnight, so temperatures will hold in the teens and 20s.

Sunday brings a mixture of sun and clouds and highs in the 30s and 40s. There may be a flurry in the mountains as a weak front passes by.

Sunshine returns with a slight cool down on Presidents’ Day, but highs will still be in the 30s to near 40.

Our next storm holds off until Tuesday. It will arrive as a wintry mix and snow to start for many, before turning over to just rain in most of Southern New England. It’s more of what we’ve seen so much of already this winter.

Bright and cooler weather is back for the middle and end of next week.
